Aquatic Services
Our pool is equipped with a propulsion adjustable current generator which provides a block of current specific to the needs of our patients. The pool also has an in-water bench to allow patients to rest, and the water temperature is kept warm at 92°F. Water serves as the perfect tool for balance control training because we move slower in water and can make more deliberate movements without the risk of falling and injuring ourselves. This translates into comfort, assistance with balance while submerged, and a means of safe recovery if balance is lost. Gait training performed in water allows the patient to extend their gait length without the risk of fall injury and stress associated with this activity on land. Water provides the opportunity to move better and longer, facilitating the initiation of cardiovascular exercises, muscular development, and a range of motion therapy. Water provides the unique property of control resistance with speed and submersion in it allows development of resistance patterns in natural range and function settings without the stress of gravity. Working in water helps the therapist and patient to identify inappropriate muscle recruitment, tension, paradoxical breathing, shallow breathing, and compensatory movement in response to pain [limping, hunching, etc]. Relaxing and stretching in warm water enable patients to develop control over pain. Patients may realize that performing movements in water are less painful.

Aquatic Solutions

At Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, we are equipped with an aquatic-access lift for those patients who are unable to enter the pool on their own. We also have private showers and lockers for the comfort and privacy of all our patients. Water exercise is perfect for improving flexibility, balance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. The Aquatic Rehabilitation Center offers many different types of water exercise classes and the ability to swim is not necessary. One-on-one assistance is also available to patients who need ongoing assistance in the water.
